Happy Day!!!

Today is a happy day!! My friend D has arrived home safely with her adoptive daughter from Taiwan!

Because our adoption went so smoothly, I volunteered to help D with her adoption after hearing about her looooong wait to adopt from China. My family in Taiwan kindly agreed to help by fostering A and doing most of the leg work. Due to some mysterious reasons, D's adoption journey turned out to be a very bumpy ride compared to ours. There were a lot of tears, sleepless nights, precious time and $ wasted, because so many things were out of our control and in the hands of bureaucrats in D.C. and Taiwan!! However, D never had doubts; even during the worst of times, D always told me that she knew in her heart A is her daughter and that A will be home with them soon!

Due to some freak delay of document transfer from China, D couldn't bring A home soon as planned after all of the court paperwork was finalized in Taiwan. Not knowing when the I600a delay would be resolved, my brave friend D who only knows 2 Chinese words decided to travel to Taiwan all by herself and spent 2 weeks to be with A in my aunt's house! D lived with the "real" Taiwanese...hahaha...with hand gestures as their only mode of communication between D & my family. D was so brave to eat my aunt's Taiwanese cooking for 2 weeks! Luckily the I600a finally arrived at AIT on Wed so that D and A could come home!!

Through D's journey, I have witnessed love, patience and faith again and again and again. The love of a mother for her kids whether adopted or bio is so strong and selfless. I am so happy that D and P are now officially A's parents and know that they will cherish her forever.

Thank you, couisn T and auntie for all of your hard work! Here's a virtual toast to my brave friend and a new Happy Family!!

P.S. It's also a very happy day for S, because I promised him that this was the last volunteer adoption work I would do, so no more frantic phone calls to Taiwan in the middle of the night and a stressed out wife. However, he has to agree that it's all worth it at the end seeing D's happy photos with her baby girl and knowing that another baby has united with her forever family!:)

He likes daddy's shoes!!!!

My "Flip" video is great, but I pray UPS delivers our new camera soon. S is gorwing up so fast, and I hate to miss capturing any "special" moments like this:
It has raised our eyebrows a few times that S is very into walking around with mommy's purse(s). Not that there is anything wrong with being a "girly" man (daddy is more a metro-s. than a macho guy himself:), but..... nonetheless, we were happy to capture some pictures of S trying on daddy's biking shoes rather than mommy's high heels.... :)

(Hey- these are cool shoes)

(Mommy- do I look good in daddy's biking shoes)

(Fine, I will give them back to daddy, but promise me I will get my own cool biking shoes!)

Is he speaking Chinese?

S babbles a lot with intonation. Since I am bilingual, people often would assume that he is speaking Chinese or English, depends on which language they do NOT understand.
When we were in Taiwan, my relatives would marvel: 弟弟在講英文啊!! (Is Di-di speaking English!!)
When we are in the U.S. people would comment: Is he speaking Chinese?
Perhaps you understand my baby? Seriously I have no clue what language he is speaking! :)

We love you- Girly Man!!

S loves singing and dancing with mommy's purse hanging on his arm, but mommy and daddy are going to be "cool" and love him for who he "is".. :)
